What's changed from previous seasons?

Our event now offers TWO trails with two very different themes. The Hollow is our traditional, classic-horror trail. The Deadlands features a modern theme, and may be our scariest trail ever!

Our concessions area (now called The Crossroads) is also getting a makeover. We're offering more choices...and showing full-length classic horror films at our Blue Moonlight Drive-In.
Both trails begin and end in this central location. It's a complete Halloween destination!

Can I purchase a ticket for one trail only?

Admission includes both trails. Tickets are good for night-of-purchase, and are non-transferable.

The exception is our Family Walk, which is on "The Hollow" trail only. If the thought of two fright-filled trails is intimidating, this non-scary experience may be your better option.

Is it scary?

Bring a spare pair of pants. For some people, we're not kidding.

Do you have a less scary version?

The first hour on Friday and Saturday nights (7-8:00 pm) is our
non-scary Family Walk, toned down for young children and those weak, er, tender at heart.
This walk is on "The Hollow" trail only.

If you bring children under ten (10) into Dark Hollow after 8 pm, you do so at your own risk; there are no refunds.

Do you close if it's raining?

We're open rain or dry...to a point. Heavy rain over an extended period of time can force us to close early. Please wear good shoes (the trail will be muddy), prepare for weather and follow safety instructions. Bring an umbrella! If you choose to wear flip-flops, high heels, a prom dress, your imported leather jacket or a hula skirt...you do so at your own risk.

Shameless plug: ponchos, hand-warmers, knit gloves and lots of hot chocolate will be available for purchase, just in case.

Is it safe to walk a forest trail at night?

If you behave yourself. The trail can be very uneven, so wear sturdy shoes. Security staff are available if you need help. Gravediggers are also standing by, just in case...

How long does it take to walk?

Walking or fleeing in terror?

It depends upon you. You might want to enjoy one trail, buy a glow stick and hot chocolate, watch part of the outdoor movie, then enjoy the second trail when you're ready.

Whatever your interest, give yourself at least 1-2 hours from the time you arrive to the time you leave, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Busier nights mean a longer wait in lines...Thursdays are always less crowded.

Are there any discounts?

A $1 off coupon is available! To download it, visit Helsbane's Office.

$1 off if you bring a non-perishable donation for the Maple Valley Food Bank. And please, one item per person for the discount. People need to EAT, dang it!

$1-off group discount for groups with 20+ guests. Please e-mail us in advance, if possible.

NOTE: These discounts CAN be combined!

Is there a child-discounted fare?

All tickets are general admission. Strollers are not recommended!

Do you accept checks or debit/credit cards?

Checks? Not this year. Credit / Debit cards? Yes!

Online ticketing is available via TicketLeap, and we accept credit / debit cards at the ticket booth.
Please note that most of our concession stands still only accept cash.

Is the event handicapped accessible?

Most of Dark Hollow are rough outdoor trails, and passenger vans will shuttle guests from ticketing to the front gate. Trails are wide enough for wheelchairs, but trails include tight turns and a steep incline. Powered chairs and / or strong helpers are strongly recommended. Please be aware the trail can be very soft.

If you still wish to attend, please contact us in advance. We will do our very best to meet your needs.

Can I bring a flashlight, cellphone or camera?

Please keep cellphones silent. We cannot look for lost phones while the event is operating. If we happen to find one, it will be available at the ticket window the next night we are open.

Please NO flashlights.

Please NO flash photography or video cameras.

Can I wear a mask and/or costume?

Costumes are fine, but NO masks and NO camouflage...NO exceptions!

Will the monsters touch me?

Occasionally something might brush against you or swallow you whole. Please be patient. If YOU choose to touch anyone and/or anything on the trail, see the next question below.

Is it true that if ONE of our group is asked to leave, ALL of our group has to leave?

Yes. That’ll make sure you identify and corral the troublemakers in your group right off. Ain’t peer pressure dandy?

Does this event benefit anyone?

This is a non-profit event, which means that proceeds go back to the community. It benefits the various volunteer and youth groups that helped produce this event, groups dedicated to community service.

This event also benefits the Maple Valley Food Bank. Last year alone we delivered over four truckloads of goods, just in time for the holiday season. Enjoying a great Halloween adventure AND serving the community? It's win/win!

When does the nightly movie start?

A new experience this season is nightly showings of classic horror films at our Blue Moonlight Drive-In. The film loops through the evening, traditionally beginning at 7:00 pm. It's located right next to our concessions, so you can sit and take a break between the two trails.

Please note that film titles are subject to change, and may be cancelled due to weather!

I had a different question. Will you answer it?

One of the advantages of being dead is that we have a good deal of time on our hands.
Here’s all the contact info you’ll ever need.
